I am 17 years old. For years, my last name plauged me. I would always cringe when a teacher would misspronounce my name ("Is there a Jonathan Reeling here?"), or worse, when I'd have to give someone my name, I'd have to spell it out for them and they'd pause at the spelling. Often times I've not felt like correcting it and gone under the name "John Riley." But recently, I've come to really appreciate the name "Reiling." It gives an air of professionalism, a kind of regality that I feel when I say "Jonathan Stoddard Reiling."
I was very pleased to find this web site. While I know very few of you, I feel somehow connected with everyone who's been here, knowing that you, too, have dealt with misspronunciations and alternative spellings of our common name.
So to all of you out there who have even been addressed as a "Reeling," I raise my glass to you and hope that you, too, are proud to be a Reiling.
