My grandparents, Clement & Christine Reiling were from Louisville, KY. Clement was a printer by trade but had to quit due to failing eyesight, then they bought a grocery. After Clement died (probably pneumonia) Christine continued to operate the store until her sons, Charles & George, were grown. After Mother & Dad were married, Grandma moved to Dayton and lived with us on Rockwood Ave. She darned sox for the six boys and every Saturday made "kuchen" (coffeecake) DELICIOUS!!!
My greatgrandparents Redelberger were married in Germany. A son, Andrew, was born in the USA & ran a saloon in Cedar Grove, IN. It operates today. He married Mary Eva Geis & they had 8 children (4 boys-4 girls). He died from a ruptured appendix, then Grandma moved with the children to Louisville to be near relatives. Grandma was an excellent seamstress and despite their hard times maintained a happy disposition. She loved to laugh.
Love, Aunt Mary
