Some of the great memories as a child were the Christmas Nite
visit to Grandma and Grandpa's on Thurston Blvd. which was yearly
after the war. The drive from North Dayton always included a trip
past the old NCR School House on South Main and the giant lighted
tree...even the trip past the old Rikes with its decorated windows
was part of the evening.

At Grandma and Grandpa's the gifts were under the tree except one
year all the boys got toy gasoline stations and they were in the
upstairs hallway....that wonderful hallway we all played in and listened
to Uncle Vic....

The food was always so good and especially the Gem City Ice Cream
frozen squares..packed in dry ice...with the green and red Christmas
designs....and the cookies, and the singing and, and, and.....

After the untimely passing of our grandparents we continued the
Christmas nite at each of our uncles and aunts...starting with
Dad (Walt), and then Unc Charles, Aunt Mary...and so on. Such great
memories....thanks to all who made them wonderful!!!!
